Richmond VA Landmark Theatre Renovation Plan
Jim Johnson, Richmond Virginia THS member and former Board Director sends this news:
“The link below was a “front page” article in The Richmond Times-Dispatch for Monday, May 7, 2012. I send the article not just for content, but also for the ”picture gallery”, which includes exterior and interior photos. For individuals, who have never visited this theatre, the pictures provide good insight. Thanks, and enjoy the show, er, article!”

There is no mention to restore the real jewel in the theatre, its long silent 3 manual 17 rank WurliTzer pipe organ. In Careytown, the historic Byrd Theatre 4 manual 17 rank WurliTzer is gradually being restored. All ranks are now playable and renovation of the console is in the works. This will be my 3rd year of accompanying “Phantom of the Opera” there on October 26th
