Everett, Washington THS member Dale Carter spotted this story which references the Rose Theatre, Port Townsend WA in which our late Marquee editor Steve Levin was an investor. Steve had retired to Port Townsend after being a projectionist and also running his families small chain of cinemas in the San Francisco area.
“Small-town theaters struggle to survive in the digital age. From Oak Harbor’s legendary Blue Fox Drive-In to the Vashon Theatre, small-town cinemas have to find some $80,000 each to convert from film projectors to digital ones as the industry plans a total changeover by 2013. . .”
