On Tuesday August 14 we mailed to all current members Vol. 43, No. 3 of our journal Marquee. Helping with the stuffing and mailing were members Cheryl Turner, Bill Reynolds, Bob Sheldon, and THS Board members Konrad Schiecke and Dave Syfczak. It’s an entire issue on the Loew’s theatre chain written by our prolific member Barry Goodkin. He had editing help from Dale Carter, a former Marquee editor. Publications Director Ken Bloom found some great people pictures (Dore Schary with Leo the MGM lion) plus other images from the THS Archives. There’s a great shot of THS founder Ben Hall at the console of Loew’s Valencia’s pipe organ, and a sheet music cover from a musical show staged by Loew’s managers in New York City in 1949. Look for it in your mail box soon. Marquee is always sent standard (bulk) mail but with the slow down in post office business it might be there very soon !
