Schine Theater/Auburn NY – The Battle Rages On to Save an Eberson Icon

The battle rages on in the fight to save John Eberson’s iconic Auburn Schine Theater.  A rally and 74th birthday party is planned for Saturday, September 15 from 1:00 to 3:00.  The birthday cake will be cut around 1:30 PM.

Two separate citizen advocacy groups, Save Our Schine and Center Stage: Restoring the Schine to the Spotlight, hope that public education will pressure the theater’s current owners, the Cayuga County Arts Council, to greater transparency and to accept outside assistance in this monumental project.  The clock is ticking for this Eberson Art Deco outer space themed jewel!

  1. How odd that that the county arts council rather than a private developer owns it, and there is not one but two activist groups seeking to save it, and yet it still needs saving!

I am a 3 year member of Save Our Schine. The Center Stage group have 400 members via the facebook website.
Both groups are hoping the publicity from the rally will alert the public that something needs to be done and SOON , rather than the current owners lack of focus and direction.
